To me, the composition of forms in painting is like a conversation or dance; it is about relationships in which I see a reflection of human drama. In nature trees lean against each other like lovers; branches cross and tangle; flowers nod, beckon, repel, creating the painting’s rhythm. I use color and light to create the emotional atmosphere of this dance-space.

Recently I have been working abstractly. Whether using subject matter taken from the external world or not, formal issues of light, color, and composition remain my primary interest in making paintings.
